In this case, the transmission of torque from the engine to other units is realized by withdrawing the crankshaft from the internal combustion engine for connection with the flywheel. At the same time, it becomes necessary to seal the shaft hole. For these purposes, a crankshaft oil seal is used.

The material of the shaft seal

This element is made of fluorocarbon rubber or silicone; in fact, it is an O-ring. The diameter of the main oil seal is equal to the diameter of the crankshaft.
