Pulley, alternator - 599105 VALEO

The alternator pulley is a cylindrical part to which torque is supplied from the crankshaft using a belt drive. The pulley also significantly affects the power of the entire unit. Pulleys are divided into the following types:

1. A conventional pulley is a solid metal piece.
2. Damper pulley - between the outer and inner circumferences there is an additional layer (rubber insert) designed for shock absorption.
3. One-way clutch pulley - has an additional rubber layer and a special clutch to prevent rotation in the opposite direction.

The functionality of the alternator pulley

The alternator pulley is attached to the shaft. The design of the part has parallel wedge-shaped grooves for fastening with a alternator belt.

The VALEO brand Pulley, alternator is mounted on the rotor shaft and is designed to drive the alternator. The pulley receives the torque from the crankshaft pulley through a belt drive. In addition to its main function, the pulley also protects the alternator. During the operation of the crankshaft, vibrations are formed that can adversely affect the operation of the alternator. The pulley acts as a vibration damper and thus protects the generator from adverse influences.
