Oil dipstick - a device for measuring the oil level in the crankcase or gearbox. It is inserted into a special tube on the engine block or in the gearbox housing. The measurement is carried out by dipping the rod and checking the level of the oil slick - if it is in the marked area - everything is in order.

The design of the probe is made of a plastic or metal handle attached to a steel rod. On the bottom of the dipstick, there are "Minimum" and "Maximum" marks that determine the current oil level. In addition, at the junction of the handle and the rod, there is a sealing gum or a soft plastic cone that prevents dust from entering the crankcase.
