Contact Breaker, distributor - 1.206.032HV EPS

A special electromechanical device is used to transfer current from the coil to the spark plugs. It received the name distributor. This device transfers high voltage current in sequence and in a given order to the spark plugs. Inside the housing is the rotor shaft. On it is a slider made of dielectric material. It is insulated from the vehicle body and from the metal shaft. Gears drive the latter. They are mounted on the crankshaft of the power unit.

The distributor does not tolerate water well. This is important to consider. To protect against moisture, the shaft is made extremely long. Then the distributor housing is as far away from the road as possible. A high-voltage wire is connected to the metal base. Spring-loaded brushes that transmit current realize contact with the rotor of the device. They constantly touch the base of the slider, but the rotation is not difficult. On the rotor shaft there is a cam or protrusion. When rotating, it presses on the breaker lever. When the cam of the shaft pushes the contacts of the breaker apart, a high-voltage current is generated directly in the coil. Then it is distributed to candles.
