Gasket, timing case - 586.380 ELRING

The ELRING brand Gasket, timing case is a camshaft housing seal element that covers the timing unit, chain and crankshaft oil seal. Prevents the effects of external weather factors, moisture and dust on internal elements.

They are made of paronite, cardboard, rubber or cork material (the latter is practically not used in modern cars). Shaped with the edges of the engine front cover to provide a good seal on the assembly.

Features of timing case gaskets

Replacement is carried out during scheduled repairs, maintenance of the distribution gear assembly, installation of a new timing chain or crankshaft oil seal. Before installation, it is necessary to clean the housing and block seats from the remnants of the old seal. The gasket has holes for the bolts that secure the cover to the unit.

The bolts must be tightened with the torque specified in the vehicle repair manual. It is recommended to use the services of a specialist in a workshop: insufficient tightening or overtightening of the fasteners can damage the sealing performance of the gasket.
